Ten favorite wallpapers from Duro
Durable wallpapers represent Swedish wallpaper history. Beautiful wallpapers that recreate originals from several centuries. 1. Hudiksvalls Theater – popular medallion wallpaper
The wallpaper Hudiksvalls Theater is one of Duro's best-selling wallpapers. It features a beautiful medallion pattern inspired by the Renaissance. The pattern was discovered during a renovation of Hudiksvalls Theater in 1972, hence the name. The wallpaper comes in many different colors and is available both as paper wallpaper in the Gammalsvenska wallpaper collection and non-woven wallpaper in the Flowers & Leaves collection.

2. Kristina – floral and romantic wallpaper
The floral wallpaper Kristina comes from Duro's pattern archive. It is dated 1941, when wallpapers were homely, calm, and romantic in contrast to the tumultuous time of the 1940s. The Kristina wallpaper fits well in both homes with a classic interior style and homes that mix new and old. The wallpaper is of non-woven quality and comes in four colors. It is part of the wallpaper collection Duro 1900.
In the category of floral wallpapers, there are also large-patterned Britas Hus from the late 1800s, the pastel-colored 1900s classic Ester Marias Kammare designed by Ernst Kirschsteiger based on old original fragments, as well as the apple blossoming Karin and lush Vildros, which are both new productions.

3. Dellen – beautiful stencil-inspired wallpaper
Dellen is inspired by stenciling, which was common in the 1700s and 1800s. At the time, wallpapers were a luxury reserved for the wealthy, while ordinary people decorated their walls with beautiful stencil paintings. Dellen is a paper wallpaper that comes in three color options.
Other stencil-inspired wallpapers include the beautiful Dahlströmskagården, floral Viktoria, geometric Oskar, and colorful Gästgivars – all with patterns from the period 1800-1860. Dahlströmska gården is a non-woven wallpaper, while the others are paper wallpapers.

4. Lillstjärna – small-patterned wallpaper
Lillstjärna has a small, checkered pattern. The wallpaper is a beloved classic that goes well with half-paneling and other woodwork. The non-woven wallpaper comes in five different colors.
Other small-patterned, geometric wallpapers are Karolina with simple flowers, Vide with checkered leaf pattern, and Dun with small down feathers in a regular pattern. The Karolina paper wallpaper dates back to the 1880s and was often placed in small rooms like the kitchen or hallway. Dun and Vide are newly created non-woven wallpapers.

The wallpaper Jenny is part of Duro's newest collection Flowers & Leaves, with completely new wallpaper patterns. The colors blend ton in ton on the dense flower pattern, can you find the nightingale? A calm and homely non-woven wallpaper that works well both in modern homes and homes with a classic interior style.
Other densely patterned wallpapers are the floral Högstatorpet dated around 1870, as well as the foliage wallpaper Lilla Dockekulla and the tapestry-like wallpaper Gysinge, both from the early 1900s. Lilla Dockekulla is a paper wallpaper while Gysinge and Högstatorpet are non-woven wallpapers.

6. Astrid – geometric wallpaper from the 19th century
The geometric wallpaper Astrid dates back to the second half of the 1800s, when the world was becoming industrialized and the wallpaper industry was growing. New technology made it possible to print more wallpapers at a faster pace. The pattern for Astrid was found in Duro's own archive and belongs to the Neo-Renaissance. The non-woven wallpaper comes in four color options, all with gold details. Astrid is part of the Gammalsvenska QuickUp collection.
The rural wallpaper Ljungbacka has a similar slanted check pattern and was popular in the 1990s when the style was meant to be homely and cottage-like.

7. Magazine – intricate medallions from the Neo-Renaissance
The medallion wallpaper Magazine belongs to the Neo-Renaissance. In the latter half of the 19th century, atmospheric, symmetrical patterns were very popular, as was this pattern found in Duro's archives and can be dated to 1865-1890. A non-woven wallpaper in four color options.

8. Svindersviken – winding flowers in Rococo style
The Rococo style of the 18th century brought lighter colors and more graceful patterns, preferably natural and floral. The original floral non-woven wallpaper Svindersviken was found at the summer retreat Svindersvik in Nacka outside Stockholm. Today, the wallpaper is found in the bedroom at Svindersvik, which is now a museum open in the summer.

9. Britta – striped folk wallpaper
Stars and lines form the striped pattern on the wallpaper Britta. The wallpaper represents the 1990s folk style when we chose saturated colors and textures. We longed for the countryside and chose untreated, light woods and unbleached fabrics in linen and cotton. The wallpaper pairs well with various woodwork. The non-woven wallpaper is available in two color options.
Patterned, striped wallpapers were also common during the 18th and 19th centuries, such as the intricate Nyckelviken Ett from the 1740s, neoclassical Renshammar from 1784, richly decorated Västansjö from the Gustavian era in the early 1800s, the restrained Art Nouveau wallpaper Nergården and the Vienna Art Nouveau wallpaper Ramsjö from the early 1900s. Nyckelviken Ett, Västansjö, and Nergården are paper wallpapers while Renshammar and Ramsjö are non-woven wallpapers.

10. Börsjö – wallpaper with beautiful symmetry
The geometric wallpaper Börsjö comes from the second half of the 19th century. At this time, people also started wallpapering symmetrical wallpapers on the ceiling. The non-woven wallpaper Börsjö is available in four colors.
Facts about Duro
- Duro was founded in 1930 by Lennart Norström. He wanted to create durable, washable wallpapers, hence the name Duro, which means strong and lasting in Latin.
- The wallpapers are printed with traditional printing methods and a lot of color. The final result gives a sense of craftsmanship and quality.
- Duro has a large archive of different wallpapers and wallpaper fragments, which Swedes from different parts of the country have sent in. From the archive, Duro draws inspiration for both historical wallpapers that mimic their originals, and new patterns marked by long wallpaper traditions. Among the wallpapers, you find patterns from the Neo-Renaissance, Rococo, Gustavian era, and peasantry, as well as the Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) period.
- Environmental work is important for Duro. All colors and lacquers are non-toxic, water-based, and free from solvents or PVC.
- The wallpapers can be washed with soap and water. They are light-resistant and of high quality.
